The Cotswold Arcadians is run by a Management Committee consisting of a Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, Site Manager, Publicity and Marketing Manager, Production Co-ordinator, Liaison Officer, Front of House Manager, Box Office Manager and, of course, the Artistic Director – who is the Director of the current production. The Committee is reformed each October and work starts again for the following year!
The Cotswold Arcadians is a non-profit organisation and nobody is paid fees or a salary: everyone from the Chairman and the Director to the stage hands and car park assistants help out just because they enjoy being part of it.
In April/May each year potential Directors are invited to submit ideas for a play they would like to direct during the following year, with a brief description of how they propose to stage it. The group then meets to discuss with each potential Director his or her choice of play and its treatment, and it is the group which decides which Director to appoint for the following year.
The Committee holds monthly meetings throughout the year to arrange the auditions, design publicity material, print the tickets, analyse data and update mailing lists, as well as trying to attract more volunteers!
Expenses are carefully monitored and controlled and all money received from ticket sales goes back to finance the next production. |
