~ Previous Productions ~ 2010 - Cymbeline, King of Britain Hatherop Castle
Cymbeline is one of Shakespeare’s most rarely performed plays – partly because of the length and complexity of its plot, and partly because of its many technical challenges. By judicious cutting, we offered a production that rattled along, between the British court, Rome and the Welsh hills. The interaction between the three stories – the ill-starred lovers, the Roman invasion, and the lost prince and princess – provided a fast-moving spectacle, and a truly emotional ending.
The druids open the play with a human sacrifice
Roman sophistication mocks the uncivilised British
The British court receives the Roman ambassador
The young Boudicca and Caractacus – and their presumed father, old Morgan
